On Jacob's spontaneous suggestion that the baby might crave blood, Bella starts drinking blood. The new diet not only makes her feel better, but it tastes good to her. Members of the pack appear to ask Jacob to come back, but to no avail.
Against his will, Jacob's attitude toward the Cullen family softens. The baby's accelerated growth causes Bella's bones to break, but Edward discovers that he can hear the baby's thoughts and that it loves Bella. Bella decides to name the baby Renesmee, if it's a girl. Edward is now taken with the baby too, and Jacob feels betrayed. He still believes the baby is a monster, slowly killing Bella. Desperate to get away from Bella's pull on him, Jacob tries to find a girl to imprint on, but has no luck. Bella gives birth, but the baby breaks more of her bones and she loses massive amounts of blood.
In order to save Bella's life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob wants to kill the baby, but upon seeing the little girl's face, he imprints on her. The third section of Breaking Dawn shifts back to Bella's perspective. The preface foreshadows Bella in a big fight, outnumbered by the Volturi. The action picks up from Jacob's narration of Bella giving birth. She catches a quick glimpse of the baby before her life slips way. At the last minute, Edward plunges a syringe of venom in her heart and she undergoes the hellish pains of her transformation into a vampire.
Bella awakens to a new world. Her senses are sharpened, she's beautiful, and she's strong. As a newborn vampire, she should be blood-thirsty, so the Cullen family won't let her see her baby. Although she can feel the thirst for blood burning in her lungs, Bella's will power and self-control prove so strong that they eventually let her see baby Renesmee. The baby needs her, too. When Bella learns that Jacob imprinted on her baby, she snaps and attacks him, but is restrained by Edward and Seth.
Esme has renovated a cottage on the property for Bella and Edward to give them some privacy. They again make love, which Bella enjoys even more as a vampire. She misses Charlie, yet is lost as to how to break the news of her transformation to him. Jacob takes the matter into his own hands by first exposing himself as a werewolf to Charlie. He tells him that Bella has also undergone an "unusual" change but wants to have him in her life, if he can handle it. Bella manages to control her blood thirst when Charlie visits. He falls in love with his "special" grandchild.
In a matter of weeks, Renesmee can talk and grows big enough to walk — and hunt. When Bella and Jacob take her on a hunting trip, Irina, a sister of the Denali clan, misidentifies Renesmee as an "immortal child," which is one of the highest crimes under Volturi law. Using shadows and hiding will allow you to escape detection.
Possibly including a chameleon-type skill which allows you to blend into the darkness, Reid can survey his targets from the shadows using these abilities. Vampires have evolved way beyond jumping, instead turning into clouds of black smoke and rushing towards their target, invulnerable whilst moving at this great speed. To affect your foes without drawing your pistol, you can also mesmerise them and take control of minds. Witnessing this in combat, however, would be fascinating - could you turn them against their friends? Send them into a frenzy? Being higher up will inevitably give you some advantages, spying down on those who scutter along below and allowing you to swoop down on unsuspecting enemies.
All this choice is almost too much to cope with. Ekon: The enthralling, charming Dracula aristocrat Roll up, roll up for the first type of vampire and the one you happen to be. Skal: The unwanted pests of the vampire world If the Ekon are at the top of the vampire hierarchy in terms of classiness, the Skals are way down at the bottom. Vulkod: Snarling, savage heavyweights Werewolves and vampires are usually mortal enemies.
Nemrod: Vampire-hating, vampire-hunting Yes, Gabriel is the quintessential alpha male, and he's certainly met his match with Rowan. Not only are they singularly strong, but add them together, and they make one heck of a team Which leads me to the romance - this isn't your typical paranormal romance. Yes, the story and the series revolve around two individuals in a relationship, but it's taken a back seat at this point.
They've made their connection, now they're working as a team against some Serious Business. This series is paranormal romance, but there are plenty of elements to appeal to the urban fantasy lover like myself. Highly recommend the whole series, it really is such an enjoyable and oftentimes humorous story. View 2 comments. Sep 30, Gigi staub rated it really liked it Shelves: arc , arc-netgalley , klovers.
Review: I will start that I read the blurb and was instantly intrigued. What I failed to figure out ahead of time is that this the third book in the series. Now, I felt a little lost and think I would have had a better time if I had read the others first.
That does not mean that I did not like it and I am still very intrigued by the story and the premise. I will go back and read the others and this one again in order so when the last one comes out I will be caught up. If you like super sexy stories about vampires and other supernatural creatures, this should be right up your alley. I really want to know more about this Demon, Rowan is attached to.
I really liked her and Gabriel but since there was just a brief, hot scene with the Demon and Rowan that really grabbed my attention. The book is filled with super hot scenes, but there is a lot of action and drama too. Don't forget the baddies, they are Very bad and hope they get what is coming to them. A lot of the story does focus on getting to know Aleksei's past for those who have read the other books.
Again, this is book number three in the series and it does end on a cliffhanger for those who might want to wait and read them together. Now, I just have to fit the other books into my reading schedule A vampire's Honor Wonderful, amazing and beautiful story like the other 2 that I have already read. Loved every single page, word and all in all the entire book. Can't wait yo find out of what happens with all the major characters.
Thanks again for a wonderful and delightful read. Hengy Etebar. Why am I reading A Vampire's Honor, the third in the series instead of the first?
Dang it, I am seriously missing out on something freaking good here. Apparently, I have a lot to say but mainly - Holy Cannoli this book was good. Here is what I have pieced together as best I can. Gabriel is a vampire but as to what a Promise is? I have no clue what that means. Normally I would go back and read the blurbs to figure it out but in this case, I want the dang previous books in my hands! Sorry, I digress. Let me backtrack a bit here.
As I have mentioned before, I am brand spanking new to the series so what a Promise is or what I should be expecting from each character is absent. Chapter 1 begins with a Gabriel and Rowan checking out an apartment with a way-too-friendly realtor.
And just like that, I immediately fell in instant love with this book. You would think after a beginning like that everything would go downhill. Nope, not one bit.
The energy level stays high and exciting and just keeps going all the way to the end. Remember this, blessing bathrooms and expensive lingerie. For me, everything in this book was screaming set up for the final book to the series but it also gave me a lot of background to Aleksei as he tells Rowan and Anasztaizia how he meet Gabriel. Now, as for that second Yowza, hold on to your hats. A Vampire's Honor, ends on one doozy of a cliffy. Consider yourself warned! This is my first book by this author and it is not going to be the last that I can guarantee you. Fans of vampire romances, this is a need to read author, so get your Kindles ready.
I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine. Stars — 4. Aug 24, Jeannie Zelos rated it it was amazing. It ends in a cliff-hanger The good part is that book four is due in Oct, just a month after this one releases so its not too long to wait.
So after all the deep drama in book two this one feels a bit less intense, but its still got a huge amount going on. Its why I love to read a series back to back when all parts are out, I get really engrossed, pick up things I missed first time round, and its a great way of enjoying a story, getting totally immersed. Don't try reading this without books one and two though — you'll be lost. Well, there are always little details, little clauses in agreements, and Rowan does tend to rush into things without thinking of the consequences. This time her impetuousness really comes back to bite her with a vengeance.
Well, as always who knows? Good job its not me writing but Carla or it would be a weepy ending, and not the happy tears kind of crying! Stars: five, roll on book four. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publisher Aug 06, Carmella rated it really liked it. I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. Rowan has gone through life and death for Gabriel.
She is his Promise, the only woman who can save his soul. She had to give up a little piece of hers though. Rowan went to visit a friend one day. As she was leaving, she found her car was blocked in so her friend suggested she use hers. On her way home, Rowan is involved in an accident. A man comes to the car to help her out and instead she is given an injection, one that knocks her out. She I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
She awakens to find Petrov, a Vampire.
Petrov comes to find that his goons abducted the wrong woman, the intended victim was her friend. He is angry but decides to inject her with what he was going to use on his original victim. Will this mystery concoction keep Gabriel from finding her? Will she die first? What does this vampire want and will he pay for his actions? I love Gabriel and Rowan! They met in the authors first book and it was quite the experience!
They have such a passionate love for one another. In this story we also met Aleksei and Anasztiazia, friends to Gabriel and Rowan. Aleksei is a Vampire and Ana a human. Aleksei and Gabriel are also close. We learned about the history of Aleksei and how Gabriel came into his life. It was truly heartbreaking. We also meet another Original Vampire, besides Gabriel.
His name is Kartel. He adds to the mystery that began with Rowan's abduction.
Changing their body into a more bestial form with long, sharp teeth could even be on the cards. Her best friend, Laycee, calls her to come meet her at a dive bar since she had been left there by her boyfriend. Book provided by Kensington Books via NetGalley for an honest review. Both continue to act more like individuals than a couple. Although predictable plot devices, the set up is a bit different. I love Gabriel and Rowan! We start right in the action.
There a rules, even among the Vampires I have to say right off that this book has a cliffhanger.
